Who we are

Pragmatic by design

Exponent Venture Group provides independent advisory and management consultancy services across a range of industries and in scaling start-ups.

We were established in 2018 and have seen significant growth in a short time. EVG works with ASX-listed companies, government organisations and high-growth ventures. Our work has focused on Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia, and we work with clients globally. Our work focuses on finding value in existing capabilities, using data to sharpen decisions, and turning strategy into changes in how teams operate.

EVG is built around the problem, not a fixed team. Ainkaran leads every engagement and is accountable for its quality, drawing on a network of senior specialists in data, pricing, finance, operations and technology to form a virtual team shaped to your situation. Expertise comes in where and when it’s needed, in a flexible engagement model, so you get top-tier capability without a fixed cost base to carry.

Ainkaran is a senior strategy and transformation leader with more than 25 years of experience across telecommunications, media and technology. He brings market and customer analysis, financial rigour and execution leadership to complex decisions about growth, pricing, investment and organisational change.

Data and analytics sit at the centre of how he solves growth challenges. He uses AI and machine-learning models to build needs-based customer segmentation, grouping customers by what they value and how they behave rather than by demographics alone. These segments drive practical commercial decisions: which offers and price points to take to market, how to design product tiers and bundles, where to focus acquisition and retention, and which channels and partners to prioritise.

His work spans pricing and packaging design, revenue forecasting, customer value management and churn management, from identifying at-risk customers and their root causes to testing targeted retention offers against holdout groups so results can be measured. In media and streaming, he has combined audience segmentation with product innovation, pricing, product margin economics and commercial deal-making. EVG builds this capability inside client teams, so organisations can sustain progress beyond the engagement.

More recently, he led the move of a suite of AI agents into production for the Ad Sales team of a large Australian media organisation, capturing expert judgement in repeatable workflows and tracking value through a benefits-realisation model. His focus is on moving AI beyond isolated pilots and into everyday operational practice.

Earlier, Ainkaran held senior roles at Optus (Singtel Group), including Senior Director, Corporate Strategy, supporting the CEO and CFO, and Senior Director, Commercial – Sales, accountable for the national retail, digital and small and medium business sales channels. He also held roles at Telstra Media. At Booz & Company he advised TMT organisations across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and the Middle East on growth strategy, market structure, new business models and major transformation. His career began at Ericsson, spanning research and development, sales, strategy and operational leadership in Sweden and Australia.
